Occular Coherence Tomography
OCT testing is the latest and greatest new technology in the eye care field. Our office provides this 3-D (that’s right), three dimensional imaging as part of an aggressive challenge to continue to give you the best eye care available. OCT imaging provides the doctor with 3-D images of your optic nerve, macula or anterior segment. These images are used in diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. Our technicians will schedule patients for this imaging based on the doctors orders and follow up care is provided on a individual basis. We strive to offer the best level of patient care available.
Macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in the world, millions of people are diagnosed every year. The Foresee Preferential Hyperacuity Perimeter is on the fore front of progression of age related macular degeneration (ARMD). This simple non evasive test is given 2 or 3 times per year to assist the doctor with a treatment course for your ARMD. Early indicators can tell the doctor if your ARMD is changing from the dry form into the wet form. New advances in the treatment of ARMD are available. Call us today for an appointment and evaluation of your ARMD.
Visual Field Perimeter
Visual Field testing is provided as part of treatment plan for patients with glaucoma, psuedo tumors, stroke victims and armd. This simple test is provided on a per patient basis as determined by your condition. Generally glaucoma patients receive this test 2 or more times per year to monitor progression of the disease. A great diagnostic tool for the doctor, providing him with a true picture of your peripheral vision. Glaucoma can lead to blindness but it first robs you of your side vision if left untreated. Some other conditions warrant a visual field test with results sent to your neurologist or primary care physician. Our office is happy to work with other providers to give you a quality level of care for your eye health.
Our office is on the cutting edge of technology in the eye care field. Dr.Andrus offers a photo screening exam for any patient that elects to have this procedure. Screening photos are $30 per patient unless some indication of early eye disease is diagnosed with these photos, then billing will be sent to your medical insurance. Detection of early eye disease is crucial for continued healthy vision. The doctor will take photos and show these photos to you during your exam. A more detailed follow up call from one of our technicians will be provided to each patient that elects to have photos taken of the back their eyes.
Inter Ocular Pressure Testing
All patients in our office for a comprehensive eye exam will receive a puff test. One of our technicians will puff air into your eye to obtain an inter-ocular pressure reading for the doctor. These pressure readings are important in monitoring certain eye diseases and of course part of an annual healthy eye exam.
Flashing lights in your side vision are sometimes symptoms of retinal or vitreous detachments. Our office has the capability to provide you with an ultrasound image of your eye. This imaging provides the doctor with the necessary information to diagnose a detachment. He can determine whether you need further evaluation or just have a condition that needs monitoring. Call our office if you ever experience flashing lights or floaters in your vision.
Our practice provides the latest in technological advances in eye care. Specular Microscopy is one of those advances and we are proud to offer this service to our contact lens patients, as well as cataract and refractive surgery patients. The Specular Microscope provides an image of the cell structure in your cornea. Cell structure changes can occur in many forms and variations which can affect your visual clarity. We strive to provide you with the newest and best eye care available. This non evasive imaging is provided as determined by our doctor for your continued clear vision.
Another part of a comprehensive eye exam is an auto refraction. Our technicians will perform an auto refraction on all patients during pretesting. The auto refraction provides that doctor with measurements of visual acuity similar to reading an eye chart and other valuable information included in your exam. Our medicare patients need to know that medicare considers the auto refraction a “routine procedure” and therefore does not pay for this service.
Pachymetry testing is a service provided to patients diagnosed as “glaucoma suspects”. Our technicians schedule glaucoma suspects for a round of testing to be completed in timely manner in a single visit. The pachymeter will measure the thickness of the cornea in both eyes. Once patients have completed their round of diagnostic testing, the doctor plugs all the info into his pachymeter and it provides a risk analysis for each individual. Our technicians will follow up with you after this is completed to schedule your for a treatment consultation with the doctor or to provide education and future follow up exams for continued monitoring of your eye condition.
